interesting number to look at

I'm just looking at the average house cost in CA is 700k for 1700 sqft. That equal to $412 per sqft.

let's calculate a reef tank of 96''x30''x24'' that's equal to 20 sqft and cost average to set up will be 8000 which equal to $400 per sqft.

the fish have the same standard as human.....

i would say fish have a higher cost than humans. If i calculate my nano tank, then they get around 20x20x20 and over $600 a sf

My 2000 sq ft house uses $100 a month in electricity. My 12 sq ft tank uses $200+ a month in electricty... yikes!!!!!!!!!!

I can also hire a maid to clean my 2000 sq ft house for the same price to have an aquarium maintanance guy clean my 12 sq ft tank

The "human house" appreciates... yet the fish tank depreciates (see: Used Equipment For Sale forum)

You can cash out refi a "human house" to buy a tank, but when you sell your tank, it BARELY PAYS your HOA due

The fish tank uses mega filtration, UV sterilizer, skimmer, and all sorts of high end equipment. My centralized A/C filter is like 12 yrs old..

My fish tank has more controllers than MY house

My fish tank's temperature NEVER fluctuates +/-0.5 degrees. Its temperature is computer-controlled, triple protected, and continuously monitored online. YET when I get home, my house is FREEZING while the fishes swim around comfortably..

Fish get pure RO/DI. I drink tapwater

If your house is also a created habitat for a wife the cost of operation is much higher than a reef tank by far regardless of how you twist the numbers.

And when you get out of the hobby the bills stop the moment you pull the plug.
