Need Reassurance
I will try to be brief. My wife doesnt think that our top floor apt. can hold up a 120g. I tell her that the PSF (pounds per square foot) would be just about the same as her larger friend standing up.
Now i am no expert on engineering and so on, but if i place tank on the wall against the hallway(near centre of building) i should be fine, right?? It would be nice to know i can set up my tank and not be worried. Thanks PS I can probably ask landlord, but i am too afraid of him saying "No tanks" |

I'm on the 3rd floor of a modern apt. Our floor is foamed concrete: light, but very strong, reinforced with steel. I have a 52 with a ten gallon sump, a stand, all in a corner. I would no more expect to see it disappear toward the two ladies on the second floor than I would expect to see our well-stocked fridge or our iron-framed upright grand piano vanish when visited by one of our heavier friends.
Seriously, I think there is a table somewhere that you can use to calculate weight. Anyone?

I would think that my floor should hold it up. I figure it will weigh roughly 1500 lbs. But it is still one of those things that you worry about in the back of your head.
What about noise, i mean if i am listening to loud music or watching tv....does that affect fish in any way. Or can they not hear that stuff....??? |
