I'll bite... Looks like a colony of Pocillopora growing through Tubipora, and montipora. The tubipora has caused some growth inhibition on the Pocci, which has in turn done the same to the montipora?

ding ding ding we have a winner!
I was wondering if anybody would see ALL of the warfare that was going on. I glued all 3 coral frags at around the same time. Apparently I didn't leave enough space between them

It'll be interesting to see how it ends up after they grow larger...

You sure they're just not stinging each other?

do you see any dead areas? Montipora, Pocillipora and Tubipora don't develop stinging "sweepers". What you see is the result of chemical warfare.

FWIW there's strong water movement around those corals, too.

My Pocillopora is doing the same thing to my Desalwii. They aren't touching but still the Pocillopora wins...

Well I got mine from drbronx, he got his from RyanM, and RyanM got it from someone in buffalo. I think he may have gotten it from S Helinski or kmagyar but I am not sure. Perhaps one of them will chime in.

I had the same thing going on here. Anytime the green monti got close enough to the (not sure if it's pocci or stylo) it died off and continued growing in another direction. The center coral (sp?) grew on its own terms:

this has turned out to be a great thread. Any more folks have pix showing allelopathy?

I guess I didn't even notice because the pocci was so obvious, but apparently the green cap didn't like that candy cane much either.

Agree Gary, great thread. Nice to put a name with that silent little war that goes on between corals.

If I could get my camera back.. I have a Mille that has done the same thing to a purple cap... Looks like the cap keeps getting its rear kicked by ALL the other corals...

Cully that is SOOOO cool.

I also have a Montipora Spumosa that is encrusting all over a rock with corals stuck in it. It's now starting to rise, I wonder what will happen?

Nice!!! Did you ever get a skimmer? Also do you have hole bits? I got mine off of ebay for like $4, $7 w/shipping. Work like a charm. How about a build thread!

Found another one. These two have been taunting each other for almost a year. The one on the Right is an ORA yellow tort, though in my tank it's more green, that I got from Zanclus. Pink pocci is from Jedi-Stephen's tank tear down. On only one occasion did the tort grow an arm that went above the pocci. When it got too close, alleopathy went out the window and all out nematocyst warfare took place. I fragged the tort and the pocci grew back over. I'm not sure which one would have won, but they both seem happy to stay away from each other.

I haven't bought the skimmer yet but I know that it is going to be an ASM G4. I will start a build thread as soon as I get some solid progress under my belt. wish me luck
