Do these Frogspawn look healthy?

They've been in my tank since Christmas eve.

I'm guessing I should not see any shriveled tentacles and such, right? Any other advice? Thanks for the help.

Look about as good as can be. What's your concern?

Well, I'm not entirely sure what to look for if they were having problems. That's my first coral purchase as well, and I want them to do well.

That's another coral. It was a hitchhiker on some of the rock. Been in there for about seven months.

FYI....frogspawn have sweeper tentacles that will sting the crap out of other corals in the vicinity. There's a picture in my gallery also of a head that died when I first got mine months ago.I have fragged the coral in half as it has grown many heads since then.

Well you'll know when they start looking bad. They won't look like they do know. They'll be closed up and shriveled and you might see tissue recession around the base exposing more of the skeleton. It'll be obvious to you.

Being your first coral I don't know if you maintain calcium levels etc but you'll want to keep adequate balance of Calcium, Magnesium and Alkalinity. Should be fairly stable if its your first coral but as they grow they'll use more (so will coraline growth). Might want to look into dripping kalkwasser (lime water) and/or using a two part solution to maintain health and get good growth. Check the chemistry forum for more info. There are a few "stickies" there that'll help.

Thanks. I was going to move that coral in the middle since it's probably too close for comfort. And I'm keeping track of Alk but not calcium or magnesium yet.

Your frogspawn looks to be a little different variety than mine.
But I can tell you,i've seen some good 5-6" sweepers come out on mine.I just recently had a ricordea fall off a rock shelf into it and 1/2 the ricordea got stung pretty bad.

I've never seen sweepers for as long as I've had my frogspawn. That's really weird now that I think about it.

The Liveaquaria site said that they'll have sweepers, but so far what you see in the pic is all I've seen. At night too.

Same here and I've had my frogspawn for over a year. Mine closes up at night actually.

Me too, mine kinda deflates a little at night, then blows up big during the day. Mine looks exactly like the one pictured too.
