Aquascaping poll
I have a question, or would like to know,
how many people have rearranged their aquascaping in the 1st year their tanks have been set up or just in general. Our tank has been set up for appx. 7 mos. now, we have several pieces. I think that we have a lot of real estate in the tank that in not being used. My husband said: "IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!" Last edited by edandsandy; 09/27/2007 at 06:05 PM. |

I change my tanks so much I could fill a photo album with pics of how I have changed them. Every time I say it is the last, only to change it a couple months later for some reason. I know it is thought to be better to just let it be, but I like change. One more for the wife.
But, seriously I think I got my tanks set now. I am not going to change them again.... for now at least. |

I done it a couple times since a set my tank up in May 07. The last time was to give my wavebox clear shot across the tank. It was really a pain so i don't think i will do it again.

If you have "boulder" shaped LR then I can understand why you would change it often because your never happy with the look.
I have the type of LR that only works in certain configurations so I am fairly limited to how I can aquascape but I am 100% happy with how it looks.

i rearrange my tank alot in the first half a year...because i always get more rock to add and it doesnt fit where theres room so i take all of it out and redo it
i remember with my 12 it was almost every year i rearranged my rock because something would move it or i needed to find a fish |

My last change was because I was adjusting mine for better coral placement areas. The time before was moving. The time before that was getting out an injured fish. The time before that was to make better swim and flow areas. Time before that was trying to get a dead Mexican turbo snail out and boredom. The time before that was adding more rock. As you can see I have chronic aquascape issues.

I rearranged my tank a lot in the 1st 4-6 months. Since then the majority of the changes are added corals.

It hard to keep your hands out of it. Particularly at first.

i'm with you sandy! The first year we couldn't keep our hands out of it because it just didn't "look" right -- especially after trolling this board and seeing all the gorgeous tanks!

within the first year I changed things around a few times. I'm still not happy, but I guess its cause I dont have a sump so the rocks have to go around the machines and I try to hide what I can

Here is a current picture of the tank, we do have a lot of bulk LR, We asked our LFS how to arrange the rock, this is how it we did it. Lots of space appx. 3" to 4" behind the formation and lots of caves. As you can see we have been spending too much $$$$$ on the tank. Now things are getting bigger I think we need more space in the tank. I guess I could say "honey, we need to move the rocks around for more space or we need to buy a bigger tank!"
Wife 11 Husband 0 Well, it look's like we will be rearranging the rocks soon!

I changed my 10 times and my tank is barely 16 weeks old. It doesn't have much corals though, and it's fishless, so I guess it's ok.

I'm pretty satisfied with my aquascaping right now, but before I would rearrange things all the time. Each time I did, something would suffer -- from change in flow, territory disputes, lighting, or avalanche. I'm glad I can leave things alone for now...

I cherry-pick all of my rock for a very specific look. I usually opt for a few large rocks rather than a bunch of smaller ones. So once it's in and I'm happy with it (usually takes HOURS). I never touch it again. I'm a bit on the obsessive side, so if I were to go moving it around all the time I would drive myself crazy!

Here is a link to that. http://michiganreefers.com/forums/sh...ghlight=spanko I just can't help myself............................I live for change................. I think I need a 12 step program or something

The only time I've ever rearranged the rock work is when I moved the tank to our new home. It's hard to reposition rocks that have been established with corals attached to them

hmello@bermexin,
I'm with you, it's like I can't stay out of the LFS or on-line here or looking at new piece on-line....... Well, I do know that it is not always good to be moving rocks in the tank. But, I need more room so I can buy more stuff. This is the most additive hobby in the world! I did promise my husband that I would leave it alone when we get just right. so let's see now that's wife 14 husband 2
