My semester final in French class consisted of watching this movie and eating French food. Great movie.

I still can't get past the fact that "ratatouille" has nothing to do with rats. Does the movie even mention what it really is?

Or just look it up in a dictionary. You know, that big book on the desk that you're not really sure what it's used for. |

My point is that I already KNOW - quite well - what it really is! I was just disappointed that, from the previews, the movie didn't seem to have anything to do with the word's true meaning.
And my dictionary is extremely well used, thank you very much. |

The word is definitely used correctly in the movie. The dish you speak of has much to do with the climax of the film.

It's pronounced "rat-at-oo-yah".

It's a great movie---technically, in the animations, as well as just a darned fun story.

I gave up on the Dictonary when teachers would respond to my inquires of how to spell a word with "Why don't you look it up in the dictionary?" Of course I would have to respond with a "How can I look it up if I don't know how to spell it?" or a "I don't need to know what it means. I need to know how to spell it!" Amazingly teachers really never liked those kinds of responses. Anyway, my son and I enjoyed the movie as well. |

Yes, the meaning of Ratatouille is pretty much the whole point of the movies ending.
