Mixed water leaving brown residue
I mix my saltwater in a 32 gallon brute trashcan with an aquaclear powerhead. I was wondering if it is normal to have a brown residue left over after the water is dumped into the tank?

If you're referring to the brown residue left in the container, I think it's fine. Mine leaves a brown residue and everything is fine and I've been using artificial for close to a year.

Yeah same here. It has happened now with 2 different salts. I havent noticed any downside to it. I just clean it out once all the water is used.

Are you using Instant Ocean salt? Happens to me too.

Thanks for the replies! I'm using Reef Crystals and it's good to know I'm not dumping something bad into my tank.
