B-Ionic
Do all of you dose B-Ionic regularly or just to raise your calcium levels as needed?

Same here. If I go on vacation and don't dose, my alkalinity and calcium levels are guaranteed to fall. I also automatically drip kalk, so that helps, but certainly can't keep up with my tank's demand. I guess you could dose the calcium part in larger amounts as needed, but the alkalinity part would wend your PH through the roof if you dosed too much at once. By the way, I don't know the max of either level you can safely dose, so that's purely a guess.

i dose my 2 part daily. i used to use b-ionic now i make my own, but its the same concept. dose daily, and if you need to raise the levels, just dose a little extra one or two days.

i found using it as the only source got fairly expensive for a larger tank. i now use a constant drip of kalk and b-ionic only when needed to increase levels slightly. if i remember right i was going through a gallon jug every other month, and at $30 a set it come to like $180 a year. i spent the same $30 on pickeling lime and got over a 2 year supply. so for a fraction of the price i get better more consistent results, and the kalk drip works as my top-off, so less daily maint. as well.
