bulkheads and ballvalves

all right im new to the whole plumbing scene. Im a little confused on a few things. All im looking to do right now is install a bulkhead onto my rubbermaid container where i mix my salt water. I then want to put a ball valve and a 90 degree elbow down so I can fill my 5 gal buckets easier.

Bulkheads come in single and double thread. I was looking for a threaded ball valve to fit into the double threaded bulkhead but I didnt seem to find any. basically what I want to know is how exactly I go from the thread on the inside of the bulkhead to the ball valve and then from the ball valve to the 90 degree angle.

If someone could just tell me the names of the pieces and/or a short explanation that would be fantastic.
Thanks everyone!

as far as connecting to the inside threads of the bulkhead they do make pvc pipe that is threaded at both ends, but im not sure how the if the threads would match up with that of the bulkhead. with the bulkheads i have used i just get the slip fitted types and glue in all plumbing parts/valves.

good luck

I prefer threaded myself. If I ever have to remove it I can just unscrew everything. With slip if you glue it you end up cutting things apart. Lowes and HD carry schedule 80 threaded PVC nipples in assorted lengths for what you need.

So you screw the nipple into the bulkhead then then the ball valve gets slipped into the nipple?

Use threaded ball valves also.
