rbrusletto's 75G

Hey guys - I just finally got some new pics of my 75G, so heres a thread I'll update from time to time to show progress.

About the tank:

Got it free from a friend, who works in the saltwater cleaning industry. One of his clients wanted a new tank with all new hardware, so he gave it away. This is my third tank. Other two are a BioCube14 and 30Long with sump/fuge. Both somewhat act as frag tanks currently...

The 75g's equipment list is as follows:

20L acryllic sump
Seaclone 100 skimmer w/ mods for improved skimming capability, not setup HOB, but in sump with Maxi Jet 1200.
100W Ebo Jager Thermometer(came w/ system and very solid... never has probs)
Blue Line Aqua 20 return pump. 1/2" return and drain.
chaetobox made of eggcrate and zip ties.
75g tank is 48Lx21Tx18D
One maxi-jet 400 w/ 1600gph maxi-jet mod(replaced two 1200s and a 900). Awesome flow

Stock list:

1Pair of Tomato Clowns
1 Sleeper Head or Blue Cheek Goby
1 medium Yellow Tang(taken from a tank where he got beat up)
1 Three stripe damsel
Some Turbos
1 skunk cleaner
2 green bubble tip anemones(split from 1)
astreas
nassarius snails
other asstd snails
margarita snails
blue leg hermits
red leg hermits

coral:

Green Polyp Toadstool
White polyp toadstool
asstd zoas
branching frogspawn
branching hammer
orange ric w/ green mouth
pom pom xenia
gsp
green mouth w/ purple chalice
pink mouth blue chalice
purple/brown monti digi
pink birdsnest
possibly alveopora(waiting on id)
possibly gonipora(waiting on id)
chili coral
orange monti cap
blue monitopora cap(I think, hard to get photo)

sand is unfortunately crushed coral, but the tank has been established 15 years and running great.

Original Shot taken a few days after moving to our house:

Rock scapes looks nothing like now.

A few pics!We bought thee heads of neon green candy canes, here is the original picture:

And here is the picture today(8 months later).

Our yellow tang. Anybody mentions size of the tank, understand this:

This tang was asked to be put in our tank to regain it's health, fins, and confidence. It was beat up pretty good and just needs some good nutrients and tlc before it gets put into a larger tank. You can see the ridges in the fins from where they have grown back from.

Wow, nice growth under just the VHOs. What kind of Ca/Alk dosing do you do? (sorry if already mentioned)

no dosing ca

ca stays around 450..

strict regimen of 10% water changes per week or 20% every two weeks. seaclone skimmer stays on full time, chaeto in the sump doubles about once a month.

every other day, I feed a little mixture of bioplankton, cyclopeeze, PE Mysis, brine shrimp, Reef Plus from Seachem, and sinking pellets for the fish and corals. Once a week I spot feed the anemones, lps, and zoas w/ mysis and cyclopeeze.

I've been doing this since day 1(with the exception of the reef plus), and it's worked, so I haven't changed. I use RO/DI and Kent Salt. Check my TDS on the RO/DI every month, and top off my tanks every day(no auto top offs)

Hopefully this afternoon I'll be able to get some good pics... fts maybe if I'm lucky :P

I fragged up my montipora digitata, branching hammer, and moved the pink gonipora(I think) from a plastic frag disc to a real rock where it can grow out and look beautiful. Fraggin the monti digi for the first time, it broke apart alot easier than I expected, but with the ease came some extra frags. Hopefully they're not too short. My monti digi has almost tripled in size size I got it a few months ago..

I figured this was the most logical place considering there is only a large tanks section > 180G otherwise...

i agree, there's not a forum for the middle range tanks.......a nano is considered between 5-35 gallons.....and a large tank is >180...........so where's the forum for the 35-180 gallon tanks since thats what most people have

Haha, all three of my tanks + sumps combined still doesn't give me 180 gallons..

In other news, the beautiful sixline in our 30G reef jumped afterbeing in the tank for a few months, calm as ever...
