I have used the SHORTY for the last 4 years. Liked it so much I bought another, and now I just bought a used BABY skimmer. I love the Aqua medic skimmers. You do have to keep an eye on the venturi, as after a few months they do get clogged, and performance goes down. Once they are cleaned out they are as good as new

If you have the space in your sump, sure.

One thing That I found that made a big difference is to use these skimmers with gravity feed if you can, instead of a pump feed. made a big improvement when I switched it over.

I am using one on a 450 cylinder fish only system, however after the tank was fully stocked I had to add another but wow, the tank stays clean with little algae buildup. I still spent less on both of them than many others for their pricy systems, deltic and such.

Does anyone know how these skimmers compare to Octopus or ATI?

I'm really interested in an Aqua-Medic skimmer for a 75 gallon heavily stocked SPS tank.
