Religion & politics will usually bring a thread to a screeching halt with a lock
IBTL=In Before The Lock
is a way of posters to get their last comments in when they sense a thread is heading in a downward spiral
The user agreement does a decent job of 'splaining the do's & don'ts. Sometimes things just start heading south & a mod will step in & close it down before things get too bad.

I remember now, I used to post at the Corvette Forum and the IBTL was referring to "in before the lock". It took something about 100x more controversial to get locked there. They have a political forum, or they did last time I posted. It has been a long time since then. The thing about my locked out topic here was that it wasn't such a horrible topic that it deemed being shut down. It was just referring to how this country was acquired.

Now I'm responding to my own comment. I’m pretty much in total confusion all of the time, thus 14 ideas that don’t match the other comments. The nice thing about all of this mental confusion and lack of short term memory is that everything is new to me. I'm always discovering the same thing I knew the day before. Kind of like a saltwater fish. They go around every day checking things out like they never saw them before. Dig?

In your title of the locked thread you mention above, you included "please don't lock this out" in the title

I'm not trying to bust your chops, and I've had a few of my threads get locked, I suppose my replies have added to others getting locked.
I give the folks that run this site credit for keeping it as friendly & civil as they do. With as many members as use these boards, from all sorts of backgrounds, there are bound to be clashes, and those clashes will, in time detract from the intended use.
