Lights of America PC fuge lamp ?

Ive read somewhere that people have had success with the Lights of America PC (6500K) bulbs at home depot with great chaeto growth. Well I went to check these out and they have a 65W bulb, a 42W bulb, and I think a 27W bulb.

My question to those using these is what wattage are you having succes with and what fixtures are you using to drive the bulb. Are you using one of the Lights of America floodlamps or some other fixture? Any help would be appreciated.

I had better luck with the spiral pc 6500k light from walmart. i use the 20 watt one, but i think they have a 26 watt one too. i used both and got the same growth from the 20 so i just stuck with that.

does it fit well in your stand, or do you have an open fuge like in a basement or something? I am worried it wont fit well in my 90 G stand.

There are a whole bunch of us here in MARS that use them. I have a 90 gallon and mine fits quite nicely. They are 12 inches across.

LOA works great use them on all my tanks. You will have to get a extension cord to wire it up.

look into your costco first.

my local one has them for $8.50 rather than the $35 or $40 they are at home depot.

i also drill vent holes in the ballast and bulb area to get rid of extra heat. this lengthens ballast and bulb life significantly. if you are unsure about how to do this, get someone who knows how...like an electrician. it's not worth saving a few pennies if you burn your place down...

i can only say that the costco's here in southern california (orange county) has them in the warehouse. i "don't" think they are on their website.

i dont know if other costco's around the nation has them. awesome price though for a great diy reef product!!!
