Thumbs up Star Trek: Enterprise will come to an end this May

Let's hope a new series follows, and that it follows the "even-numbered series are better" rule. Here's the news from a decidedly anti-Star Trek (and safely-anonymous) "journalist."

http://www.vh1.com/news/articles/149.../article.jhtml
Quote:
Thousands of Trekkies Tremble

It's been announced that Star Trek: Enterprise will come to an end this May following four underwhelming seasons. This news was taken especially hard by millions of fans leading underwhelming lives.

Enterprise, starring Quantum Leap's Scott Bakula, failed to find steady fan base and was never able to grow in popularity like previous Star Trek series have. One possible reason for this might have been the decision to cast the sexy Jolene Blalock as "Commander T'Pol," because if we've learned one thing over time it's that Trekkies often seem to get scared away by pretty women.

Unless Paramount steps up with a new Star Trek series for the fall, it will be the first time in over ten years that an outgoing Trek series was not replaced by a new Trek series. If this is the case, millions of nerds everywhere might be forced to experience something that they've never experienced before: the outdoors.

My favorite was with Captain Jean Luke Piccard. Not a trekie at all but I enjoyed that one.

That article is kind of funny. I'm not a trekkie either, the shows usually bore me but I liked the sixth movie a lot.

Well, STNG was my personal favorite. I'm not hard core (never gone to a convention, worn a costume or mastered the Klingon language). It was so far better than any other series-- I doubt anything else old/new did/could come close to it in terms of quality. I've developed a real appreciation of Stewart's acting skills. His best IMHO was in season 6, the CHAIN OF COMMAND episodes (part II in particular). It was worthy of an Oscar.

I liked STNG and Voyager the best. I watched Enterprise for two seasons and then it just got lame. Actually it never really got going but I kept watching hoping it would.

I watched Patrick Stewart in an interview one time and I have a lot of respect for that man. He seemed very intelligent, gave thought to his answers and speaks very well.

I agree, Patrick Stewart is a great actor and comes across as a nice gentleman in interviews.

I don't know why people don't like "Enterprise" I have liked it sice the first episode. TNG, DS9, Voyager..all were great in thier own way. I'll be sad to see it go. I don't watch much TV but I looked forward to my liitle dose of Sci Fi. ( I'll miss my dose of Blalock even more)

Live long and prosper,

I stopped watching on the first episode. The shower scene was just too cheesy.

I am not too surprised the show is ending. When the show was moved to Friday nights, the writing was on the wall. I have enjoyed the series, but I am pretty easy to please when it comes to Sci-Fi. For the dedicated fans, there have been enough good episodes in between the mediocre ones to keep us happy (but this has been the trend since DS9). Luckily for us, we have Stargate and Battlestar to tide us over until someone figures out a way to breath new life into this very (very) old story line.

This was obviously not written by someone who is very knowledgeable of the series...

you have to admit the series was either hurting for ideas or the writers were taking the show in a weird direction. My dad was a big trekkie, so I guess a bit rubbed off on me. I'm one of the oddballs that liked DS9 the most

Not really, it's my favorite as well. Perhaps because I'm big B5 fan and already have a bias towards the space station plot line.

But FWIW, I never clicked on this series. Not sure why, just kept thinking there was something that wasn't doing it for me.

Although I have to admit I did find T'Pol........

Interesting

Hey I liked DS9 also! I never saw Voyager or Enterprise. They were both on stations we didn't have.

I agree, your not alone. I have watched them all, and its still my favorite, esp. the last couple years. At least it had some action which is what sci-fi should be.

I dont mind Enterprise. Better than nothing. It will be sad if their is no new series.

I think it was doomed from the start due to that cheesy theme song, but I can't get the darn thing out of my head...

it's been a long time, gettin' from there to here,
it's been along time, and my time is drawing near...

Oh god, I'm gonna be thinking of that all day now...

DS9 is a far third on my list. I've already had my own personal STNG marathon 3 times now. I may have to buy the DS9 series DVDs, but only if I buy Voyager first. And that would cost as much as a small to medium reef tank.

DS9 has some good seasons. But they had some really heavy Ferengi episodes that were more than I could stand. Quark and his brother had a few notable qualities, but when that Grand Nagus (I looked it up) showed up, it might as well have been Barney.

all the bad stuff was redeemed when they brought out the Defiant I thought.

also, I thought DS9 had one of the better finale episodes of the franchise
