Are there any snails in the tank? If not, they might be able to keep up. Otherwise, nutrient control is the way to go. The more common approaches are reduced feeding, better skimming, running a phosphate reactor, and growing and harvesting a macroalga.

What's in the system now? Equipment, animals, etc.?

A uv sterilizer of appropriate size will reduce it significantly.

I don't think I agree with that.

Are you sure that the organisms on your glass are not diatoms?

How much food is going into the tank? The pest needs food, whatever it is.

I clean daily with a magnetic cleaner. Weekly I'll clean by hand with a scraper. You might try increasing your water changes.

Hello,

I had the same problem for awhile, then bought a phosreactor
Two Little fishes, I use Seachem phosguard about a cup and a half on bottom
and above it Seachem matrix carbon .
I use a maxi 1200 to a valve to control gph. And since I have no algae blooms. I change media
out every two weeks or till media starts to turn dark.

I suspect that your phosphate levels are higher than your test kit is indicating. I am currently testing 4 different phosphate kits. The ones that cost over $60 consistently found higher phosphate levels than the ones that cost less. One test kit in particular had false negative indications.

I second the recommendations to reduce lighting, reduce feeding, and get a reactor for granular activated carbon (GAC) and granular ferric oxide (GFO) media.

When I had a combination light fixture, my T6 were on for 10 hours daily and my MH were on for only 4 hours daily. The MH are for the deeper portions of your aquarium and may photo-inhibit the corals at the top portion of your aquarium.

I recommend Norit ROX 0.8 GAC from www.twopartsolution.com, Warner Marine PHOSaR-HC GFO, and a Schuran Multi-Filter 1000 reactor with the internal pump from www.customaquatic.com.

Refugium with macro. More snails, mine help me reduce the need to weekly scrapings.
