Cleaners...

Just picked up a pair of cleaners today and I tossed one into my 40g FOWLR and the other into my 8g nano. The one in my 8g BioCube is thrasing it's tail around and releasing lots of little white shrimp larvae. Talk about excited I have never seen this before.

Of course I immediately call Matt to see if he has any beta on cleaners larval stages etc. Man I love Matt, such a knowledgable guy and never affraid to chit chat for awhile.

Anyway if I had a camera that could capture the scene before me I would get some shots but I don't think it'll happen. More food for my Lime Stripped Goby yum yum!

AHhhhhh total Hijak... darn you Matt *slaps Matt with a trout*

I do love my Evil Mels, gonna be fun fragging those for biology! They are hardy little guys!

Once the lights went off last night in the nano, I saw the cleaner come out under the LED moonlights and send 100s of the little cleaner larva into the display, of course being an 8g nano, they go straight into the overflow to be caught in my cheato or spat out of the pump :P My Lime Strip is very fat today!

If you check outmy webpage you'll see my cleaner (with eggs) and some EvilMel's up top

Haha! I have already talked with Matt about his peppermint raisings, kinda wanted him to bring it back so I can buy a few

These cleaners are awesome and I think it would be a fun little project to try at home sometime. Then if I see how successful it was I woud try it at school. That's a really long project for a couple of teenagers to stay on top of :P

[Hijack continues]

Heck, by that pricing scale I have $500 of EvilMels in my tank.

Here is an old pick of my best colony under 10000K light:

Those are some of the coolest Zoa's for experimenting with. They will vary from having an almost black center to being predominantly white depending on where you place them in the tank. I even injected some of mine with zooxanthellae from different colored Zoa's and managed to get some orange to take, but the new color would'nt pass to the new growth.

What made you think to try that??? I'm pretty surprised the orange took... Too bad they didn't spread... That would have been cool... Do you have any pics of the Orange Evil Mel's???
