Would there be any problem using crushed coral for substrate in a refugium.

how crushed is it? my only problem with using crushed coral is that the copepods and the sand critters didnt like it too much , so i eventually got more copepods on the glass than in the substrate

I would steer away from crushed coral, in a fuge you will get hair, maybe cyano alage growing in it which is normal. Otherwise it would grow in the main tank. The CC will only trap waste algae etc and can casue a nitrate problem. If you want substrate I would suggest sand.

You dont have to have anything either. Mine doesnt have substrate, it makes it easier to clean up and I dont have to worry about water flow blowing sand around.
