mine eats nori seaweed, formula 2, and mysis shrimp. they also should eat most types of algae in your tank, some get very picky and will only eat brown algae. you can buy nori at the grocery store or online its pretty inexpensive just stay away from the smoked nori.

they are very entertaining fish to watch mine loves to be watched, infact if i am looking at something else it will swim past just to let me know that she's still there. goodluck and enjoy your new fish.

Boiled lettuce has no nutritional value what so ever and shouldn't be fed, Take mikes advice on the feeding and get some nori , you can get it cheap in asian food markets.

I know its a moot point now, but please reseach before you buy! Ask what it will eat, them decide if you can feed it. Scott Micheals Pocket Expert Guide is a great book for about 25 bucks, this will help you much in terms of what fish to buy, what they need etc... Remember these are live creatures. You should have as much respect for them as you would your cat or dog or whatever...

I'm with tre8160.. boiled lettuce is not the right food. I've kept tangs for over 10 years. In the beginning I too fed them lettuce. One by one they starved. Go with Mysis shrimp, Nori, and some good salt water fish pellets (veggie, fish combo's) and you will have the fat, happy Naso you seek !

They need a varied diet consisting of veggies and meaty fare. They are a tang so make sure they get plenty of the plant stuff. We feed ours a mixture of the following on different days; Formula One & Two flake, Sprung's Sea Veggies (seaweed) - 3 kinds, varied frozen meaty fare (mysis shrimp - 3 kinds, brine shrimp - 2 kinds, krill, plankton, squid, bloodworms & Formula One) and cut Sand Eels or Silversides. Our fish eat better than we do!!!! Naso are great fish, good luck and enjoy.

If you have this tang in a 30 gallon, you need to take it back to the petstore. IMO you need at least a 180, these fish need ALOT of room.

Naso Tangs get large, to large for a 55. But a good reason to get a bigger tank.

Could a Naso be kept in a 100g (60x18x20)? Or is this to small of a tank also?

We have one in a 100 and it seems to be doing fine. Although he is an attention hog!
