I was a little hesitant to try one of these for the price (compared to others). But if you bought 2, how is the one you are using?

Mushureefer, I am looking for a skimmer for my 29g. I live in the Birmingham are and I was wondering if you did seeing as you have posted on AL Reefers. Does the skimmer need a pump? Either way I am very interested. Let me know what I need to do.

hey, I have one of these!
does it have the grey 500+gph pump?
not sure if yours is the same model but in all honesty, when i first got mine i thought it looked like a piece of junk. almost no english on the box.
put it on a 55g with a 15g sump. thought it worked quite well.
then bought a seaclone, than a bakpak, then a remora.
as i spent more money the skimmers seemed to be less effective. go figure. it wasn't until i bought a euroreef and an etss did i see a huge difference.
this is 30.00 well spent for someone looking for something that works on a smaller system.
only complaint i had with mine was the water height needs to be constant to tune the flow to get the correct skimmate. might work best with a float switch top off. if the water lavel fluctuates alot it will either pull nothing out or overflow. give it a constant level, and you should be all set.
FWIW
i still use mine to help clear a tank after a southdown storm. works great.

Recieved the skimmer today. So much for BRAND NEW IN THE BOX. The skimmer was obviously used for quite awhile. All I can say is BEWARE guys. People post one thing on here then send you another. I just hope guys like this are few and far between.
