does anyone really swirl after each drop?

It depends on what tests I'm doing, but the ones I do regularly are Cacium, Alk, and Magnisium. I use Salifert kits and do everything the way you're suppossed to until the last step with regards to drops and swirls. I know my water pretty well, so I can ususally anticipate where the reading will be so most times I do like two big squirts and a big swirl with each until I get close to where the anticipated reading will be, and then I go two drop - swirl, one drop - swirl...... you get the picture.
I've done the same tests the way you're suppossed to and my way with no difference. Every once in a while I'll get too anxious and use too much in a squirt and "over-step" the reading and have to start over, but other than that no problems. I can't imagine actually swirling after each drop!!!
just me???

I agree swclown that is the way I do it also. Also agree that I don't think it makes any difference.

I hold the test vial in my left hand, the dropper in my right, lock my hands on top of eachother, and do a drop swirl drop swirl kind of thing.

I was paranoid about following the directions to the tee when I first started out and that was the method I came up with. Now it is just sort of natural even though it may not be necessary.

I believe Habib has said that it is ok to add the first 0.5 cc quickly then slow down as you approach your normal reading.

I test so often that I know what it is going to say within a few drops or so.
