Macro algae behavior question.

My refugium is now flourishing with 4 types of macro algae. Chaeto, Red Feather caulerpa, green bubble caulerpa, and some long green centipede looking plant, not sure what it is, would it be a good idea to keep these plants as separated as much as possible?

I would be good but it also all depend of the size of your fuge?

what actually consists of pruning? is there a process or should i just trim it down

Yeah you just need to do it by hand and trim the excedent. Don't worry it will grow back pretty fast.
