Who has an indoor Reef Tub?
Who here have an indoor Reef Tub (using Pond Tubs)
Would love to see some pics Hear some input on setting one up as well as things to watch out for or what you would have done differently Instead of seeting a 180G or 220G later on I am thinking of setting up a tub instead - for Tangs and an Emperor Angel. |

Would be a major problem with increased surface area and evaporation. I dont even want to think about how much $$ you will spend on the maintenance alone. No angel or tang is worth that, IMO.

I had one (150 gal) in the basement a few years ago. Broke it down because of humidity probs.

Would it be possible to have a pressurized tank?
I mean, have a large glass box in the floor, or something where you'd need to look down, have a large surface area, etc... But have all six sides covered? This way, you'd be reducing your "open" surface area and thus eliminating much of the evaporation issues, because you'd be using a remote sump for your aeration/turbulence. You could pump in water, run a decent amount of flow, and have basically a tube at the TOP of the tank where your pump forces water out of the glass box and into your remote sump. In this case, you'd easily be able to look down at your reef. Your lights would have to go through the glass, but run some starfire or something and you'd probably be alright. May just be a crazy idea though.

There is a lfs by my house that has one in their store. Its pretty cool it actually has a waterfall and they have different anenome's in the pond part as well as star fish. Its not very deep just enough to cover those guys, but its still pretty cool. They also have some other ponds with large puffers in them like 8 or 9 inch puffers, they have signs everywhere saying don't try and touch the puffers. They are pretty friendly and come right up to you probably think you have food or are food.
