Lighting question

Im in the process of buying some lighting 2 mh hqi 250w and 4 65w pc will I get the shimmering effect color temp of mh the one's that are included are 15,000k is that ideal for coral growth and nice lighting that brings out the color the pc comes with actinic 03 are those for look mostly?. I am new to all this so I hope I am explaining this all correct. My goal is to have a great looking tank thats and bring out all the colors in the corals, inverts, fish etc.. and have them thrive. maybe eventually add some sps
Thanks happy new year

If you have halides you will have shimmer. Halides shimmer because they emanate light from a point source rather than a long surface.

Generally higher kelvin bulbs see less growth than lower kelvin bulbs. There remains some debate on this topic, however. Most dont like the yellow look of lower K bulbs, so it is more of an aesthetic choice for most people.

If you haven't bought your ficture yet I would suggest supplemental T5 rather than PC.
