Just got off phone with Aqua Tri Inc. They repackage Dowflake as All-Clear Calcium Chloride. The rep mentioned they are in AZ,CA,TX,FL.
He said they will ship and have 50lb bags. Anybody in these area's go to yellow pages and search Aqua Tri. http://www.yellowpages.com/SearchRes...rvine&state=CA Pool suppliers should be able to get it. It's (ALL Clear Calcium Chloride) more expensive but is same thing. Unless you have a huge tank, it should last a while. $18 for 10lbs. May also be able to get 50lb Dowflake bag. Just got off phone with Aqua Tri in FL and he said they are wholesale but gave a couple stores (retail pool suppliers) locally. Last edited by reefkeeper59; 05/23/2005 at 01:25 PM. |

I sent a email to Dow Corp and they said one supplier in florida sells retail. With only two locations (Jacksonville and Tampa). It is Univar. Not sure that is totally correct. Maybe just who they favor.
The local pool store says they can get. Yet to be seen. Fond out what I had from them was not Dowflake. Just spent almost hour on UnivarUSA web site. Looks like to purchase from them you have to supply them with business info and become a e-business partner. Also need to fill out a credit application, start a account. I sent them email two days ago and they never responded. I'll call them. Last edited by reefkeeper59; 05/25/2005 at 12:14 AM. |

I just showed up Univar in San Antonio and told em I was purchasing as a private individual. They said that was OK , ran my CC and handed me the bags.

That should confirm that then. Be nice if could do it that easy online. I'll call tomarrow and see whats up. Closest one here is about 150miles. Local Pony express brought my live rock from Tampa (west coast florida) to east coast for $10 box. Hopefully they ship this carrier.
How much did they charge (50lb)? Thanks for the input. |

I can order a 50 LB bag for 18 bucks from your Gemplers link...and when I choose a shipping method it says "UPS Ground: 0.00" - I wonder if this is a mistake. If it is a mistake, about how much should I expect to pay? - Oh yeah, and in that link it takes you to a specific bag of deicer that doesnt look like dowflake...is it the same thing?

Randy or anybody else,
Would this work in place of Dowflake? http://www.cal-chlor.com/PDF/Calcium...e%20Powder.pdf

I can't tell if it is adequately pure or not, but it may be OK. If you use it, use 17% less than Dowflake in my recipes.
