I forget. Reef Crystals and Tropic Marin are both $54.99. IO is like 49-51 I think for the barrel.

I like IO is 35 for a bucket. I'd give a call over there.

Does anyone have any idea of when this store will be open for live good sales?

I am thinking about waiting for them before I start stocking my cube.

they have not even plumbed any tanks yet. and then figure a few weeks to cycle the system. I would bet 2 months at the earliest. Pets plus red lion or langhorne have very good livestock as well.

Thanks for the quick reply frank!

2 months (or more) may be OK with me. Heck...it took me almost a month just to add a few snails!

Slow going with the tank seems to work when youre busy.

Was there for the first time today, amazing selection of dry goods and the best prices around by far. Tropic Marin is $49.99 actually. Can't wait for the livestock!

I heard they're HOPING to be opening the fish section March 1st.

However I was VERY disappointed in their prices. I found much of their supplies to be more expensive than LFS.

See... SOMETIMES bigger ISN'T always better.

Having such a BIG location is causing BIGGER prices to the customers.

TFF was cheaper on ALL it's saltwater food. WP was cheaper on ALL tanks, skimmers and chemicals.

I didn't check out the plastic and/or decorations as I don't have any need for them.

The salt was the same price as PP.

AND marinedepot.com was the CHEAPEST for flake food.

Not trying to argue but the WP only sells tanks 125 gal and up nothing smaller, at least thats what George told me last week. And pets plus doesn't sell any dry goods cheap, most of there prices are insanely high, at least the one on red lion is anyway, can't speak for the others. Pets plus sells oceanic salt for 60.00 bucks thats almost double THR. And THR's prices on kent brand chemicals are better than most online places. With shipping i can't see ordering food online worth it. What pets plus are you talking about.

No way is salt the same at pp. Not to mention they dont carry much of any one salt other than the cheap stuff. You cant compare any lfs to an online store. You have to add shipping. I cant argue about tff because I wont go in there without a respirator and a chem suit.

As I mentioned in a previous post.... PP is the most expensive (normally). And strangely or maybe not so... when looking at a product... one should look through all the items... most of the time you can find the same product marked differently. They are EXTREMELY mismanaged!

BUT.. with that said... PP DOES carry a few different brands of sea salt. They sell Coralife, Red Sea, Oceanic, instant ocean and Tropic Marine to name a few... Often enough they're on sale too.

I absolutely WOULD compare online stores as many times if a person searches they will find the product they are looking for... much cheaper than the stores AND they offer coupons and discounts also... in the end the price WITH shipping ends up being cheaper (at times). Just a little bit of homework will afford you these benefits. AND you don't have to leave your house neither.

NORMALLY, I don't go to TFF. But I DO go because of the prices for fish food. I would NEVER buy a fish or coral there. Many dead fish in their tanks AND the staff doesn't take the time to acknowledge a customer. Their "live in" cat pays more attention to the customers.

To the person asking what is WP... its a LFS in the area. If you look at the first thread in this forum... in that post is the store I was referring to. Sorry to not mention it... I'm just not sure if its allowed.

That's what happens when they fire the good ones (because there was a rumor that some of us are working at THR, which isn't true)

Ohhhhh fish store drama.

Imagine working there for hours on end. I used to have to go outside for a few minutes every hour just to catch my freakin' breath. It's really terrible when someone is so cheap that they won't turn the air on, and trap all the humidity and heat in the back with those damn Meat-Store style plastic curtains. Lame.

I dont see how you can compare an online retailer, which doesnt have to worry about paying an overhead for a storefront, to an actual store.

If there are a lot of things I need that I know I can get significantly cheaper online, then I will buy there. But it needs to work out financially with the shipping. Not to mention the risk of ending up with the wrong product.

Flamehawk, you seem bitter for some reason about THR

TFP is an online retailer and has a huge storefront in Lancaster. They are still the best around....Online prices, but they are a LFS in reality.

Its noticable the second you enter there. But, this is something you and I have talked about previously. I was in there the other day... not one employee asked if I needed help. The only time I was acknowledge was when I was paying. And even then... it was barely. The person didn't get off their "personal" phone call.

AND can somebody please get rid of all the DEAD FISH??????

And if it WAS true? Who cares? People can work anywhere they want to!! No contracts are signed saying otherwise......

Flamehawk, you seem bitter for some reason about THR

I seem bitter? That is such an odd and ridiculous statement to make. You couldn't be more wrong. But I suppose by paying higher prices it can make a person a bit upset....
(bitter is DEFINITELY the wrong choice of words)

As I've mentioned in many posts... I am/was VERY excited to find out that THR was reopening.

I've made mention before about the amazing KNOWLEDGE that Ziggy has on the hobby.

All I did was make mention that THR doesn't have the lowest prices as claimed. By saying that DOESN'T make me bitter!!!!!! Just makes me aware......

Maybe its YOU who is bitter because I'm talking about THR?????

About the online shopping issue... that was sorta my point... meaning the prices WILL be higher at an actual store... due to overhead.

Maybe you should REREAD all my post relating to this subject.....

Hey, listen, if you want someone to take care of the dead stuff, you're going to need to talk to someone that still works there :P

Let me just guess who was on their cell phone, it was the lady with brown/blonde hair that is very tan?

It was my point exactly that even if I did go to work over at THR, I would have 1) quit first 2) told him myself. I'm not upset that I was fired [I can actually breathe and not be dripped on anymore] I was just mad that he fired me for some lame reason that makes absolutely no sense, and is a bad business practice (Big surprise)

Somebody that works there? Is there anybody that actually works there?

Yep... you guessed correct.

That IS a really lame reason. Again.. who cares IF you worked at both places? Not saying you did or are... but who cares if you were???? If you were doing your job there and a good one at that... it shouldn't matter where you work. Did it matter that you had a life outside of that place? Or was that against company policy too?

Sooooo.... going to get a job at THR then?

Comapny policy? What company policy?

I'm done working at LFS-es. Too many morons. I'm sick of answereing cycling questions and how ammonia is bad for a tank. And doing water tests. People should be responsible enough to buy their own test kits. They aren't expensive and what would they do if something happens and they can't get to a store that does water tests? Or if the store is closed at the time?
