Does anyone use actinics with there 14k Hamiltons 175w?
I'm thinking of switching from 10k to 14k. The question I have is can I do away with the 2-96w actinic pc's? Or just stick with the 10k?

I have Iwasaki 14000K bulbs and can tell a little difference when the actinics are on but not enough to matter. I still use them though for sunrise/sunset. They come on 1/2 hour before the MH and turn off 1/2 hour afterwards. Mirror image for sunset.
p.s. mine are (2) 65w PC .

I recently changed from 10k to 14k and still use 2 130 w pc's. However in my case I think it's a little too blue. ( I preferred it with the 10k better)

reefmutts,
I have that very exact set up. 175W MH w/ 14k Ice Hamilton bulb + 2x96W actinic PC. Looks fantastic in my (biased) opinion! |

Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to try the 14k Hamiltons 175w

I have 2 175w 14k on my tank and it looks great without actinic. I just use 2 t5's to create dawn and dusk.
