Dialing the Ca reactor

Could someone please point me to some articles on dialing in (adjusting) the Ca reactor so that it does not affect pH much?
Perhaps there are some calculators that allow to determine that?

Another question I have is is it ok to run the reactor partly throughout the day, that is for instance turn it off (feeding pump and CO2) for about 8 hours per day? My pump is making rattling noises and since the reactor is in my bedroom, I wonder if I can turn it off for the night?

Thank you,
Luke

These should help:

Calcium Reactor setup calculator (CaCO3/CO2 reactors)
http://home.comcast.net/~jdieck1/reactor.html

A Guide to Using Calcium Reactors

You may be able to turn it off, but the water inside of it may become anaerobic.

Thanks Randy,
previously I had it setup so it would turn off the CO2, but kept the feeding pump on. I wonder if that could have caused the PH drops.
I'm still trying to figure it out. It looks like my alkalinity is dropping more that Ca. Still gotta do the CO2 test.
Thanks again,
Luke

The pH would drop after the CO2 is on, but less than if the CO2 were on 24/7 at the same bubble rate.

It looks like my alkalinity is dropping more that Ca

That is always the way it appears because there is a much larger reservoir of calcium in seawater. This article has more:
