Fang blenny turned to jelly overnight
My poor little canary blenny got nuked in the night. He looked like his top lip was swollen last night and when we got down this morning we couldn't see him.
After dismantling the tank we found his tail sticking out of a piece of live rock. Dead and surrounded by jelly. No eyes and no side. He was really wedged in there - had to break the rock in two to get him out. We have no idea what has happened to the poor little dude and we'd only had him for two weeks (my birthday present ). In the tank we have 2 red scooters 2 hermit crabs 3 snails small group of mushroom coral very small group of polyps Fiji live rock Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite = 0; SG = 1.020 - a bit low temp 25 cel Questions: What could kill him and leave the jelly behind? Do you think I should be concerned for the tanks other inhabitants? Thanks for listening |

A lot of possibilities for cause of it's demise. The turning to jelly part is simply a result of the bacteria and protozoal activity on the dead fish.
