Aefw Predator Found!?!

On another board, it seems somone discovered that regular old CAMEL SHRIMP will eat AEFW/eggs and Monti Nudis. The only down side is to do it, the corals must be put into a "cleaning station" or a separate tank because otherwise they wont touch the corals becaues there is food elsewhere (softies/snails etc). But apparently when put into a QT tank, they will clean the coral completely in about 30-60 mins. Any longer and they will start eating your coral as well. From what has been reported, they will completly clean the coral top to bottom naturally. So while its not an intank treatment quite yet, it seems like a step in the right direction!

This works 4 sure seen this myself.
If you have a chance setup a qt tank with multile peps-DO NOT FEED THEM.
Drop a nudi infested or any other coral x 24 hrs and guarantee it will be clean!

The interceptor would kill the shrimp.

Possibe AEF solution???

I was browsing around on the web this after noon and while at korallen-zucht.com I found this interesting article stating that Rhynchocinetes durbanensis AKA Camel shrimp feed on acro eating flatworms and monti eating nudis including their eggs??? the process involves setting up a cleaning station aquarium for the shrimp and placing the coral in the cleaning tank to be cleaned for a short period of time then placed back into the main aquarium???

Do you think this statement has any validity???

you can read more about the process and the results here:

Man, this would be great. You could always just keep the shrimp in your sump. You could then put any infected coral in the sump for the treatment. Then place the coral back into the main tank.

according to the kz article, the correct one is Rhynchocinetes durbanensis, which is the camel shrimp, not peppermint

Feel free to send all your critters (red bugs, etc) to me and that will give my students a new experiment and maybe win $20,000 scholarship at the science fair .

We've got a LOT of tanks and need some cool experiments. We also have lots of camel shrimp thanks to a seining trip. I'm very serious. We can post our results as we find them on our website (little red house above).
