Turboflotor T1.000 skimmer not producing bubbles
I turned my skimmer on about 3 weeks ago and it's been running ever since. However, it has not produced any bubbles, and no bubbles means no skimming. What might be wrong?

On the one I had, occasionally, I would have to take the Oceanrunner pump off(just slides off straight away from the skimmer body) Then there is a screw on adapter to fit the pump to the pipe. Remove this and underneath should be a needlewheel. Mine would sometimes hang up somehow and quit spinning. I'd remove the impeller and needle wheel and give them a good cleaning with freshwater and an old toothbrush. Then put it all back together and mine always worked fine(still does for the guy I sold it to) Hope this helps, Rob

Maybe the air inlet tube is plugged.

yeah, i forgot about that, take the hose coming from the air inlet and dunk it under the water for a second to dissolve any salt that may be there.

does anybody have any pictures of this protein skimmer installed. I was curious just how you install the water intake from the wet dry overflow box into that smaller tube coming from the water intake area?

a friend of mine was recently having skimmer issues and then it occured to me how deep is the pump submerged when the venturi is to deep it wont funtion properly if at all ?
they say it is best to run the pump within 2-3 inches of the surface of the water |

I would just use a small PH to pump the water into the skimmer, that way you have some control over the flow. most PH output thru a 1/2 in spout and you can use a piece of larger tubing to make an adapter to fit on the odd sized tube where the water goes in the skimmer.
I have the same skimmer and no I do not have a pic of it running. But if it has never made any bubbles I would pull the pump off and look at the "Venturi" , the tube inside the larger tube with the holes drilled in it. When I first got mine it still had some of the plastic from when they drilled the holes partially blocking the flow. Carson |

Thanks for the reply carsonc. Do you think that a turbo 1000 is two small foe a 155 plus 40 gal sump?

I would think that it might be a little small for that tank, You could have 2 of them and like Anthony says clean them on different days so there is always one working .
As for the PH I think I used a MJ 600 with the flow reduced some. I do not think the turbo floater is the best skimmer out there, I do think it is a good one to learn how to adjust a skimmer. Mine seems to always put out some skimmate no mater how badly I have adjusted it. Like I said before I tried to get 2 other (more popular types) to work and I never did. I think that now after using the T 1000 for a few months that I could get the others to at least work. Realize that when some of the folks here on RC answer a post that they may have many many years of experience and operating any skimmer is no big deal to them. Good luck with yours Carson |

Back to the original post.....How are you feeding the skimmer? Is it the classic in sump style or the multi hang on style?
What pump(s) are you using? What is the water level in your sump? |
