Where did you get your sump?

I'm having trouble finding a reliable quality sump maker willing to do custom work.
I am looking for someone to build either 6 ft. x3 ft or 8 ft.x3ft. sump please.

Any suggestions and feedback about who you like and don't like would be appreciated.

I looked into lifereef, but also heard that quality isn't that great...esp. for the price.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK Douglas Lehman still makes them.

He made a really nice one for poopsko24 a few years back. Send him a pm.

I got mine custom made through the Marine Connection. He has a local place that will make one however you would like it.

Doug is the man, he made mine and one for a friend. They are built like a tank and the man has great ideas you can go wrong.

Thanks everyone. I will follow up with Marine Connection.

Is Doug Lehman a professional acrylic person or is it a hobby? I would like some sort of warranty on something like this.

So far I have Marine Connection, Trigger Systems, Lifereef, Reef Mania. Thus far, no one has told me yet that it can be done. (I only know that Lifereef refuses to do a 8ft. sump)

If you need a warranty then you will need to go to a company. Doug is a fellow hobbyist and although he does great work and you would most likely have no issues, I doubt he offers a warranty. Try these guys also..

My reef Creations

Orca (Protein-skimmer.com)

shipping is going to be brutal though as an FYI

u could look locally for a platics fabricator. the make all sorts of custon pieces, stands, shelving, display cases, so if you have a design you could have it done. you'll have to talk to them about the warranty, they might give you one. this is what i did although i have not had it built as i decided i couldn't afford it, too many other things i need for my reef more. so i bought a 75 gallon aga and baffled it, well not baffled yet.

Poppy- yes, shipping is going to be rough. Hopefully Marine Connection's person will be local.

Kimoy and mleh- I really don't want to build my own anything in this hobby. I don't trust myself!

mm- A couple of reasons for a large sump. 1) Feedback from the large tank forum. People told me go as big as I can!
2) I want to fit the following: large fuge, coral propagation area, in sump skimmer, holders for carbon and phosban reactors, chiller line, heater and probe holders. I would like the fuge and coral prop area to be large.

Sugartooth

where is this sump going to be?
If you are going in the stnd then I get it but if your going in a seperate room
the possibilities are endless
you can use rubermaid tubs and save a ton of money and just tie them together(man do I wish I had a basement)I think the guys in the large tank forum would agree

Also contact Doug I personally have never delt with him but at the same time no one ever says any thing bad about him
and you know how people get around here if they feel the were wronged

Thanks whirrly. I thought about the tubs as well. That could be an option except I want to be able to see from the sides.

I was thinking to have this under the stand.

I also will have a fish room, but I already have a few sumps and need to efficiently use that space.

I assumed he wanted acrylic Aiko which is why I suggested the others. I know Rod is the man with the glass stuff. Not saying he can't do acrylic, he just prefers the galss stuff from what I remember.

BTW, did you make it out to see him today? Wife and were going to, but we have been waiting on her car all day. Sorry Rod. Your girlfriend misses you and wanted to visit.
