I throw mine in a 5 gal bucket filled with vinegar I wash them in the washer with no soap just vinegar once a week or once every two weeks. I have 20 socks and just rotate them.

it is not really a lot of work to rotate them I just toss them into the bucket after 2-3 days of use and when the bucket is full I throw them into the wash. I like to have plenty on hand so I do not need to wash the dirty ones over day. With 20 socks I can wash the dirty ones once every two weeks and still have enough to use.

Filter socks should be cleaned every few days otherwise they are going to contribute to nitrate production. I would never uses soap to clean them. If you use bleach to clean them, sun drying is the Ideal way to get rid of the bleach. They should not smell like bleach when you reuse them. If they still smell of bleach then you will be adding chlorine to your tank which is not good.
