Filter socks?
I'm thinking on adding these to my new sump when I make the tank switch out soon. Where do you order yours from?
Thanks |

Marinedepot.com. I use the 100 micron. Get at least 2 maybe 3. I have a light bio load in my tank but have to change it every 4-5 days. When it gets dirty I turn it inside out and put it in the washer with a couple of ounces of bleach. I then put it through 2 additional rinse cycles and hang it to dry. Has worked for 8 months with no problems.

I have 2. As mentioned I swap them every 5 days or so. They are usually pretty grungy by the 5th day.

Ok, well I have never used them, so guess we'll give them try. I know it's got to be better than having to siphon all the mess out of the sump every couple months.
Thanks for your replies. |

I like to get those filter bags with the micron size that catches almost everything but the water - they clog fast, but I dont put them on the overflow, I stick it in the sump, and put the end of the syphon hose into it and suck up all the turkey bastered crap form the rocks and all the algae I scrape. The only down side is, Im kind of OCD (obsessive compulsive) about getting every little piece thats floating so I do this for too long....but I also spend hours picking every single last piece of lint off of my carpet....arrrggghh
