Perfecto 120g Tank - Thumbs Down

Well I ordered a Perfecto 120 with C/Overflow aquarium and the first one came to the LFS with a crack in the corner that had been siliconed over, and the second came with imperfections to the silicon job at the seams . Just my luck to get 2 Perfecto tanks in a row that had problems. I've read only good reviews on the perfecto's

Almost makes me want to buy a Oceanic Tech tank, but those dam run 800.00 for just the tank

I don't know if I should order a AGA or try another Perfecto Aquarium

I've always had AGA tanks and never had a problem. My lastest AGA 92 gallon corner has black silicone on the seams (as opposed to my previous 90 gallon which had clear silicone) and looks really sharp.

Just an FYI, I stopped by Great Barrier Reef in Boca and they have a brand new Oceanic Tech 120g with stand with the overflows for $800.

I saw that tank / stand a few weeks ago, it's a good deal, but if i'm going to spend the 800 beans, i might as well throw a little more money into it and buy a custom tank. Thanks for posting the info though.

I went ahead and emailed exoticaquariums to get a price on a 48l x30w, 21h tank

cubano2480,

I had a really bad experince with a aquarium I purchased from glasscages and will never ever purchase anything else from them. Sometimes saving some money in the begining, ends up costing you alot more in the end.

If you are going to purchase something from them , good luck and hope it comes out ok.

For that price you might as well get the Oceanic. They truly make the best tank. Yea its 2x the cost but think of it like furniture. Cuz its in your room. My next tank will be.

Cubano,

I purchased a tank from them around 3 years ago. I went and met them at a reptile show in orlando to pick up the tank, stand, and canopy. When i got it home i found all these small scratches all over on the low iron glass sheets which was the front and 2 sides. I emailed them to tell them what had happened and the owner replied back being a total maricon about the whole thing, blamed me for not going over the tank thoroughly when i picked it up and to return the whole package at their show in Florida. I'm keeping it short in his reply ...but the guy was real nasty.

I've never been treated so badly be a vendor, and especially considering it was their fault.

I've spoken to people that have had alot worse happen to them.

For the most part Oceanic tanks look really nice. The plastic trim looks better and the low iron front glass helps to get rid of that green look, but that starts making a different when the length of the tank is over 4 feet. Below 4 feet the color different is not too much. This info i got from someone who makes custom tanks. Yes you can order a very thick low iron under 4 foot tank which will be much less green. Lately i have seen several post with people that had major issues with their Oceanic tanks.

Karen makes nice tanks. Hard to go wrong with that.

AGA/Oceanic makes nice tanks too. I think they tend to get a bad rap sometimes because all we hear on forums like this are the horror stories of a cracked tank or some unverified complaint about the workmanship. While there have no doubt been quality issues with some tanks, the fact is that 1) there are quality issues with ALL products, even custom made-ones, and 2) AGA/Oceanic have been selling tanks for years, the majority of tanks sold in the U.S. over the past several years have probably been AGA/Oceanic tanks, and relative to the amount of tanks sold, you don't hear about THAT many quality problems.

As I said, I have no complaints about my AGA 92 gallon corner, although I must say with the black silicone, super-clear front glass and overall workmanship, it really looks much more like an Oceanic than an AGA (Oceanic doesn't have corner tanks listed on their website; perhaps the Oceanic division makes them for AGA...)

I found a better price for my tank

96 x 30 x 25 tall glass aquarium $ 300.00

2 overflows and 2 holes per overflow $ 150.00

Pick up our truck in Tampa or Melbourne in Sept costs $100.00
