Hey Gato I was just looking over your two treads again and noticed that you put the output valve fairly high in the container. Is there a reason you put it there instead of the bottom like some others?

Thanks
Phil

And as an update...I redid my skimmer for a 3rd and final time. This time I took an old ETSS downdraft that I had and retrofitted it into this plan. I glued an adapter into where the collection cup would screw down normally on the ETSS and attached my 2" pvc collection cup and then I attached the Sedra downdraft style. So i think i have the world's first downdraft aspirating venturi skimmer

P.S. I don't recommend it not as much bubble production. But it sure is much less of an eyesore haha

OK. I got my valve yesterday so I want to be sure and get it right. Oh if anyone goes to a plumbing supply to get their special order sch80 gate valve don't ask them to go ahead and give you a threaded pipe adaptor. They are proud of them things $$. At least the sch80 ones.

Thanks
Phil

It looks pretty good... You may find the pump straining.. if so you will need to widen the gap... you can reheat it and use a large flathead screwdriver to twist in there to spread it appart. but try it first and see. Or just make a second one not quite as tight and see which works better. good luck.

Ps I still am using my EAP, but have added a wood airstone to it to increase bubbles.

I have a mag 5 on mine.. the important thing is the GATE valve for tuning in. I've also added an airstone to mine because the mag drives impeller doesn't work as good at smashing up the bubbles like alot of other pumps do. I also added the bio-ball mod to mine. If the mag 7 is what you have laying around... sure.. but if your buying I would look into a better option.
