How do you view the details?
I currently have a 20L and I love using my loupe to look at polyp extension and the health of my SPS. Thing is I can only see the corals up front (like within 4 inches of the glass). I will be upgrading to a 50 breeder soon and all my livestock will be deeper into the tank. Any suggestions for viewing the details of coral placed deeper into the tank?

I think I would buy a $2000 camera before I bought a $500 ogles. I think it is a cool device at $50, maybe $100, but $500 is out of my league. Is there are decent camera around $500? I have a canon S60 and its good for a point and shoot, but I would really like something that can get better macro shots, and still allow me to buy corals to take pictures of.

Yeah, I think I'd rather drop the 500 on macro lens since I already have the rest of the system. Just pain to have set up the tripod and what not then download and look. It was nice to just pick up the loupe, take a peek and then move onto other things. No 50$ magnafine (sp?) glass to do the job huh?

The mesoscope only gets you a certain number of inches in before you cant get close anymore. Id go with the camera. You can make a camera box for the in tank shots.

Ok, lets get simple here. My g/f just got me a magnifine glass. A small one, but it allows me to "see" deeper into the tank to see the corals tahnthe loupe did. Is my logic wrong here that a bigger one may be even better allowing me to see deeper? (I am still getting the macro lens, but it'd nice to just take a quick look without all the camera gear)

Garf has a page on using magnifying lens for close up shots of polyps.
