Need something that eats cyano

I've got some cyano, not a lot, but enough to bother me. I can't seem to eliminate the cause but it's such a small amount I don't think theres actually something 'wrong' causing it. What type of critter is best at eating this stuff? I've got some turbos, astreas, red and blue legs, a yellow cuke and a fighting conch. The Conch eats a little of it but not much.

I don't beleive that much will even touch it. Usually cyano comes from excess nutrients and/or inadequate flow.

Fighting conchs will eat the stuff if you get lucky.

I had quite a nasty cyano outbreak. First I treated it with some sort of 'red slime eliminator' that my LFS gave me. It worked wonders...within 24hrs it was all gone!

A little bit started creeping back so I turned the lights off for 3 days and that finished it off. Of course I'll be keeping my nutrients in check now but if you just want to eliminate a little bit I highly recommend trying 3 days of darkness (and some phosphate/nitrate remover + water changes as needed)

nitrates and phosphates are barely reading on Salifert test kits.

Add a fuge to your system, and put chaeto in it....it worked for me.

I also bumped up my flow as well.

I have a fuge full of cheato. Flow is a modded MJ900, a standard MJ900 and a Seio 820 plus the return from the sump which is only about 300gph. In a 36" tank, any more flow causes sandstorm.

how long has the chaeto been in the fuge? It took the chaeto about two or three months to completly rid my tank of cyano. There is still some growing in the sump, actually on the chaeto.

I set up the fuge in the middle of January. The cyano just popped up about a month ago.
