Question EuroReef question

has anyone ever drilled the collection cup on a Euroreef skimmer to make is able to overflow into a larger container. Aqua-C does this and it is wonderful. I have an aqua-c right now and am contemplating a Euroreef, but really like the overflow option. TIA,
fried

I haven't done it personaly but I've seen a couple Euro-Reefs with drain tubes. Seems to work fine!

I haven't done this yet, but I've been thinking about it. Lots of people have done it and say it's great...but I really don't have to empty the cup very often. I'm not sure how to drill it, but I've read that people start off drilling a very small hole and then slowly enlarge it before tapping it for the fitting. I'm just afraid what happens if I screw it up - those collection cup assemblies can't be cheap

I need to do it too. Don't let it grab the acrylic and crack it. Maybe start small and slowly work your way up. Do a search on drilling acrylic aquarium tanks.

the larger ER's come with a hose barb glued to the bottom of the collection cup (but not drilled yet) for the addition of a waste collector, but IMO this makes you lazy about cleaning your collection cup and a dirty riser tube makes your skimmer efficiency go down conciderably.

myself i clean my cups daily and recommend at least every 3 days to anyone.

I saw on a forum message a few weeks ago that euroreef is now drilling and taping the collection cups, on request at the time you order it. If you are going to be getting a new euroreef just have them drill/tap it beforehand.
