polyps taking over

I got the set up used, and the rock set in 50 gallon buckets with no light for a weeks waiting to set the tank up. Well everything is going well. The only complaint is that some poylps are taking over. They seam to be growing faster then the shrooms. Is there anyway to get rid of them? i use a turkey baster to get the shrooms loss, then just suck them up. This doesnt seam to work with the polyps..

Any ideas?

Poylps do grow fast but not that fast. You always need to give room for all coral and trimming will become a nessesity. But your description of some poylp isnt enough. DO you have a pic?
