BM 250 vs Deltec TS1060 decision

I have a 250g sps tank that I need to replace my skimmer on. I was told that I should go with a Deltec TS1060 rated for 270-400g, or to go with the BubbleMaster 200 rated for 250g. I know that Deltec has pretty accurate ratings but have no clue on the ATI skimmers. Which is better? Would I need to step up to the BM250 on my tank? Are there some other skimmers for the $700ish range I should consider?

I actually think that Deltec is very "generous" with their ratings. If you go ATI, I'd go with the BM250, not the BM200. Look at the numbers with the TS: 6" body, 24" tall, 900 LPH. That is not all that powerful a skimmer.

Yeah...there is really no comparing those 2 skimmers they aren't anywhere enar the same size....ANY skimmer with a 6"x24" body will not skim a 250 gal tank...120 at the most.

But you think the BM250 will do a good job? I was also considering an orca systems skimmer, or a reeflo orca, but the reeflo is external, and I just don't have room in my stand for it. Any other skimmers I should be thinking off?

There are lots of good skimmers out there depending on your needs and budget. Deltec makes a nice skimmer, but I wouldn't use that one on your system. For internal, the BM250 is good (I have one), the new ATB conical skimmer looks good. H&S 200-1260 is another. What is the footprint and height you have to work with?

Has to be 28" or less in heigth, and can't be bigger than 18x24, and it has to be an internal skimmer. I'd like to keep it under $1k.

not to be a band wagoner...but the Xtreme 250 will fit those dimensions, uses the same meshwheel Sicce's as the BM's, and is under $500. They have not started shipping yet, but if the verdict on them is good, i would look into them.

The ATB small will fit those criteria as well IIRC.
