I try to take close pictures of my fish like that, but my camera doesnt really cooperate with me very well. All the pictures of my tank have to be tanken a little further back. I dont understand the automatic zoom.

Gonna let you in on a little secret - I crop.

And it helps to have a decent camera when cropping so much.

This is the photo before cropping:

Eric,

What is the dimensions of the images coming from your camera?

I would keep that crop but have it be around 640x480 or so.

I think you have the same coral as me!

The image resolution when i take a picture is 2048 x 1536. All the pictures left at that resolution are very blurry and very grainy.

Looks like the same coral to me! I got this frag about a month ago, and its doing great!

Are they focused in on one object in the center while everything else is blurry?

I try to make the camera focus on the coral, but it always seems to focus on things in the background instead. I put it in macro mode, but that doesnt seem to help much. I dont have any way to make the camera focus the way i want it to. Or I havnt figured out how to yet.

I have this camera.
Sony Cyber-shot 3.2-Megapixel Digital Camera

Model: DSC-P72

Maybe that will help a little.

Chances are you are too close to the object. I have to be like 16" away from the object I am shooting.

Try taking different shots from different distances... it may help!

look in the owners manual and it will give you the minimum focus distance of your lense...

Ok, I have 2....

I wish the 2nd photo was a little bit more in focus, but I just love watching him when the "feelers" are up!

My favorite?

I'm trying to figure out all the settings of my new camera. Hopefully in a couple of days the quality will get better.
