Home Depot RO units anyone?
After researching RO units I found some recommendations to buy a unit from Home Depot or other similar store - as it is cheaper and made by the same companies who simply relabel them for aquarium use. Who disagrees (and not for the simple reason they spent $$$ on a "reef" type model)? Who knows of any differences?

You should check out eBay. I bought a RO system from an outfit in Canada for $150. That included shipping.

I just ordered my RO/DI unit from http://www.h2ofix.com/RODI.htm
for 174.00 shipping included. I have seen this setup and like the customer service. I was referred by a member in my club. If you do decide to get one from H2O just let them know I referred you. Rick Harris |

When I was in the market for a RO unit I saw them at Lowe's and HD. I called the company and asked about GPD output and other "technical" questions. They were only good for about 10gpd but you could get a 24gpd membrane for $75. I bought the reef/fishkeeper one from www.h2ofix.com and I'm very happy with it.

The HD one is garbage, if it is the Premier unit for $169 it makes about 2 GPD. I got my 100 GPD RODI from ebay for $150 shipped works great

H2ofix.com is great
Department store/ Retailers offer very basic RO's for drinking water applications that include a bladder tank and faucet that are not used in our application. www.H2Ofix.com will custom build a unit for you for this purpose. Some of the eBay based companies that were mentioned, especially the outfit from Canada only sell drinking water systems. You really want an RO/DI. You will get 0 TDS water from the unit is properly designed. The folks at H2ofix are also reefers so they understand our application. they have many options available and will custom build a unit for you. They have de-alkalizing filters, booster pumps, bypass kits, floats and on and on. The amazing thing is their units are hundreds less than Kent.

I purchased a unit from http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=70548722 For $141.00 I received a 5 stage system with a 3 Gallon holding tank and 21 extra filters. I’m filling my 110G as I type this. Very good unit, and comes with everything.
