dragon wrasse MIA!
When should I start to panic? I got him yesterday, saw him at lights out last night and now it's 10AM and lights are on but I don't see him any where. my first thought was he jumped but he is not outside the tank and I have a very good cover on it any way. When should I start to worry and move rocks? I guess he could just be in the sand some where, thats how they sleep right?

You may want to drop a little food in to see if he comes out - just to rest your mind - that's the problem with new fish - they like to hide until they figure out the new territory.

you would be suprized where fish can hide. they can wedge inbetween the LR and sand when stressed and become nearly impossible to see.

does this wrasse burrow at all? Anybody know? I know I searched high and low in my tank for a new yellow wrasse only to find him days later when he was unburing himself.

My dragon wrasse disappears for a few days at a time. When I first got him over a year ago, he was MIA for at least 4 days. I wouldn't be concerned. They burrow under the sand and usually come out early in the morning.

If you got him yesterday he's probably just a little stressed from travel and acclimation. I wouldn't worry just yet, but if you don't see him tomorrow there might be a problem.

Yes, they burrow.
My friend had a nice big dragon wrasse and he liked to hide under the rocks. Unfortunately a lion fish who was barely bigger than the wrasse swallowed him whole! Crystal
