Hi Tim. Welcome to the forum and to the hobby.

Read all you can! The reef central on line magazine is a great place to start. If you have any questions, just ask. We were all beginners at one time...

Hello!

Hi and WELCOME Tim. Do your parents know you're not doing drugs? It's great to see people your age getting into the hobby. There is a lot of information here for you and a ton of great people to get to know. Good luck with everything, and don't hesitate to ask questions if you need to know anything. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Welcome Tim.

New myself and I can tell you the information is great-- the people are better. There is a lot to read and the different forums offer very specific info when you have questions and you won't believe the knowledge folks have.

Ask lots of questions..

Welcome to COMAS Tim

Just in case Tim's parents happen to read Dugg's post, "Do your parents know you're not doing drugs?" I believe he is referring to how addictive reef tanks can be. What am I saying?...."can be"....heck, we all know that they are addictive. I use the plural because somehow, the tanks themselves seem to multiply. LOL

Little Bitty, i say that because it would be next to impossible for someone his age or any other age for that matter, to afford the reef addiction and drugs lol. You can be pretty certain that someone his age that is getting into this hobby has made some good life choices for himself.

Tim, before you go out and spend a ton of money on coral or live rock, there are several people in the club that raise and sell coral frags for cheap compared to buying large pieces at stores. Just ask, and most likely someone will have what you want.

dugg-

One thing you will learn when you move back here is that most of our lfs's carry frags at pretty reasonable prices. Along with them you get great info on their care and of course the all important water testing!

Not to put down our member's knowledge but we have wonderful shops that sponsor us and that don't take advantage of newbies.

That's too funny Dugg! I've mentioned to Jess on several occasions that I may have to quit smoking since the price of cigarettes is interfering with my hobby now, lol.

Welcome to the board and as everyone mentioned, feel free to hollar if you have any questions or need assistance.

Welcome to the COMAS group. I must say, I am very happy that I found this club. I am in midwest city all the time and understand how far away edmond can be. I would suggest going up there to the store called aquariums. they are always helping me and have very resonable prices. We all look forward to seeing pics of your tank!

Are your parents hobbyists? How did you become interested in aquariums?
