i bought a pistol shrimp for my goby about 2 weeks ago and when i put him in there he climbed under the rocks like normal, and that was the last time i saw him? does anyone know why it would take this long or think he might have possibly died?

in the tank is

2 marron clowns
fusi goby
scooter blenny
engineer goby
2 damsels

water is perfect bc i was congradulated at the lfs for having such perfect water

but why in the world would this happen?

My friend has one and never sees him. He hears him and sees a fresh pile of sand that the shrimp has excavated but he has never seen the critter.

I put mine in last august. I saw him for the first time since then last week. No poping or nothing in that time frame. I did see tunnels he or my diamond goby could have created.

Once and awhile I spot feed my shrimp goby and if I leave them alone afterwards the goby brings the pistol shrimp out.

I have a pistol shrimp in my tank (~1/2" long) that it took me about 10 months to finally see, and he lives in the top of my LR. I haven't tried pairing it up with a goby, but from what I've read it can be difficult to pair up a pistol shrimp/goby if they're added separately and its best to buy them as a pair.
