Powerheads...for once and for all... which is the quietest??!

I need a couple of small powerheads for my 44g tank.
I just need to know which are absolutely the quietest!
I'm really hoping for something whisper quiet.
Many thanks for any advice.

thanks for the reply!
Are they really quiet?
That's my main concern.
Oh, and reliability.

They are super quiet, durable and reliable. I have all of mine hooked up to a wave timer and they never fail to kick back on quietly and they have never jammed even with the constant on-off action.

I've used the Maxijet1200, Hagen402, and Rio800. I think the Maxijet are the one with the least problems but in terms of quietnest and compact the Rio wins hands down. But i've had two broken Rios already so..

I also agree. I've used both the maxi-jet and the Aquaclear. I find the maxi-jets quieter. The Aquaclear make a clicking noise when hooked up to a wavemaker during startup and the impeller wears out.

So it seems like Maxi-jets are the way to go.

UPS just sent me my first Maxi-Jet 900, it has been going for a week now, with no noise to speak of. Also, if you do a search on RC, you will find the majority recommend the Maxi-Jets as the best PH.

We've had three (3) MaxiJet 900's on a wave maker for 2 years. Zero problems. They fire everytime with no noise. Finally cleaned them last week because we were already moving rock around.

I would stay away from PH's from RIO. I have a RIO800, and while is it powerful - it is extremely noisy. I also have a MaxiJet 1200, and it is fantastic!

We love our Sea-Swirl. They are a little spendy, but works great. If you ever have a problem with one, Ed is great to work with!
