Purple primer to help mask PVC in tank

In my current setup, I used Krylon fusion to paint all of the exposed PVC, almost 2 years later, most of it has either chipped off or disolved. That said, I am considering a complete tear-down and rebuild (that or sell the system) and was wondering; Has anyone used purple primer to mask the PVC pipes in their setup? Is it reefsafe and does anyone have any long-term experience with this method?

I tried a search on google and R/C to no avail.

I've heard of people doing it, and it's totally reef safe as long as you let it cure.

Pardon the ignorance, by cure are you referring to it drying over the course of a few days, or is there some process which needs to be followed?

Just letting it dry for a couple days, I've used it and so far (about a year) it's holding up and looking great.

Purple primer and the gray PVC cement are both safe for drinking water within 20 minutes of drying. I've used both in my reef tanks within 30 minutes of drying with no ill effect. Keep in mind that Coraline will soon cover your PVC as well.

If you are going to paint PVC I suggest you rough up the surface with some fine sandpaper to get good paint adhesion.

Thanks to all. I am going to build a rack to elevate the rockwork off the floor to aide in circulation and reduce areas for detritus to accumulate.
