OT - Yosemite by Moonlight
Here's how I've been spending the last 5 days. One of the ways to avoid the crowds in Yosemite, this time of year, is to shoot while they're sleeping.
That exposure was taken using my Tokina 12-24. My settings were f/4, 16mm, ISO 400 for 30 seconds at roughly 10pm. It was taken on Thursday night, the day before the full moon. Here's slightly different composition of the same scene: and one taken the next night of El Cap:

Saw your other photos on FM. Really liking them. I need to get to Yosemite some day. I'm stuck with Yellowstone and Glacier.

Thanks Mike - it was a great trip that did not include much sleep. There were 5 of us shooting until midnight-1am each night and then up at 3am to be on the road by 4am.
I'm still trying to catch up.

They look fantastic. Is it my imagination, or are their horizontal lines in those first two pictures? What would be the cause of that?
I only wish we had such fantastic views here in Texas to enjoy and photograph. If I ever go camping at Possom Kingdom again, I'll be sure to try to get a few night shots. The one thing I remember the most about camping there is the ability to see billions of stars. It is so breathtaking that I'd rather sleep under the stars than to crawl into the tent for the night.
