my tanks been runnigh for a year. salinity: 1.022
in my eairlier weeks with my 55 gallon, i used copper safe. which killed off my LR. its been about 10 months to where i am now. i plan on getting a new skimmer, phosban and calcium reactor.

I wouldn't do a massive water change. I'd probably get a new set of test kits. I'm not sure I believe the pH and ammonia in particular. A LFS might be willing to run some tests for you.
What's being dosed into the tank? The salinity is very low for a reef tank. I target 1.026-1.027, which is about the canonical average.

I'd adjust the salinity over a period of a couple of weeks. This article might help with checking your SG device:
http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-06/rhf/index.php If you're using a refractometer, the PinPoint 53 mS solution is very handy.

Smaller weekly water changes are more beneficial than larger monthly changes. I used to do them monthly and I recently started weekly. It stresses the tank much less.
