Awhile back I read someone got the Odyssea UV sterilizer (I don't wanna spend and hour looking for who hehe) and was wondering how it was. I had an algae bloom and am looking for one and wondering how well it was.
I wish they made Phosban Reactors, my PS160 is working awsome stock, my problems I was having was that the impeller wasn't seated right.

Thats good to hear jefferzbooboo, nothing like spending money on something only to not have it work. I finally am getting something out of my ps 75 with the genx 1500, although it seems to be very inconsistent. Maybe its still breaking in? I do have a very light bioload consisting of only the cleanup crew, 15-20 corals, and one fish. Still debating on getting a octo 150 or ps 160 because I want to add more livestock and I know the ps 75 won't be able to keep up. Any thoughts?

jbeltmann, i just got a ps160 very cheap, i was going to have a skim off vs my via aqua and see what it can do, and after that i'll be getting rid of it more than likely, or replace the pump with a gex2400 that i have meshed out already and see what happens. Or i may just pass it along...not sure yet.

Keep me posted, would definitely like to know how it turns out. I was contemplating the euroreef 80 promo, but can't justify the price based on some peoples disapproval. Everyone with the 160 or the octo 150 seems to love them, I am just wondering if the extra 80 bucks is worth it for the octo.

Lol, that was a good one! I have heard of tupperware parties, but you may be on to something! On a serious note what I want in a skimmer is something that isn't finnicky and works almost as a plug and play. If you want to play around with it and get it to your standards I would still be interested if you would be willing. My 75 with the genx 1500 is all over the place as far as getting the settings right, kind of frustrating having to babysit a skimmer. By the way, I only have about 25.5" to work with, will the 160 even work in my sump?

It was me with the UV light from them. I haven't used it yet since my big tank is still down. Still though it's going to work like any other uv light just at half the price . It's built well enough for the 25bux i payed for it and I love it.

Jbeltman, i'm told its 21" high so that should be fine. I'll check it out when i get it and give it a go. You shouldn't have to mess with your skimmer besides having to dump out the skimmate imo. The cheaper skimmers are know to be finicky like that, but there are a few exceptions. After hearing all about this skimmer i figured i'd give it a go and really test it. I have to get it first! lol

Thats the prob i see with aquatraders, there prices are great but they charge you tons for shipping. I bought a 39.99 pump from tehm and the shipping was 17 bux.....the ps160 shipping is around 30 bux from what i've heard. Other than that there prices are good.

Ok, I'm either very lost or missing parts or something. I just got my PS160 today and am trying to put it together. I can't figure out how to attach the u-tube intake to the pump. Doesn't seem to be any attachments that will fit the tube! All I seem to have is vinyl tube attachments that are rigid. Any suggestions? I can post pics later if required.

Ok, after banging my head against a wall for not realizing that this is a cheap chinese company that doesn't include hose clamps which would have mad it obvious I understand how to do it now.
Here is something though. What are the 2 little peg like things for that don't seem to fit anywhere? any clues?

Earlier in the post, I asked the same question and someone said its to hold the skimmer from the tank. If thats it or not, I have no clue.

Yeah, thats what it is. Those little pegs go into the ends of the screw adjuster thingys. Thought it was pretty cool actually once I figured out how it all worked.

Oh yeah. Ran vinegar in it for an hour or so and stuck it on the tank about 5 minutes ago. I don't have to many issues with it except for lots of micro bubbles in the tank. Not sure what to do with those or maybe they will go away after usage for a while?

Why aren't I getting any skimmate??!!?? This thing sux!!!
J/K

*EDIT*
They didn't glue the tank hanger on straight so it's a bit tilted. Don't think it affects anything though.
